Practice is more than the technique in front of you. Students listen, take turns, show care for training partners, and keep working when a movement takes time. Those small choices are how values become habits.
The five tenets we teach
- Courtesy: show respect to instructors, classmates, and people outside the dojang.
- Integrity: be honest about your effort and willing to say when you need help.
- Perseverance: continue working through challenges rather than giving up at the first difficulty.
- Self-control: use strength and emotion responsibly, and treat others with care.
- Indomitable spirit: keep the courage to begin again after a setback.
These are the tenets described in Bulsajo's school mission. They are practiced over time; no one gets every moment right. The point is to keep learning and to bring the same patience to daily life that students use while training.
From every failure we rise
The phoenix in Bulsajo's name represents rising after difficulty. A missed kick or a forgotten form is part of learning. Students can acknowledge what happened, listen to a correction, and try again. Families can reinforce that process by praising honest effort, progress, and kindness alongside achievement.
