About Step Up For Students
Step Up For Students administers education scholarship programs that help eligible Florida families choose learning options for their children. Programs include the Personalized Education Program (PEP), which supports parent-directed learning for students not enrolled in school full time, and the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Students with Unique Abilities (FES-UA) for students with qualifying disabilities.
Eligibility and allowed expenses differ by scholarship. The current Step Up For Students Provider Handbook lists physical education classes and sports lessons as eligible expenses under several scholarship programs, subject to each program's rules.

Before enrolling or paying, families should confirm with Step Up For Students that the student, class, and expense meet the current rules for their scholarship. Parents or guardians may pay through EMA or pay out of pocket and submit a reimbursement request when that option is allowed; Step Up For Students reviews each request and may deny it.
Ask us for the class and payment information you need, then check the current Purchasing Guide and reimbursement guidance. Scholarship participation does not guarantee that a specific student or expense will be approved.
